A $1,000 portfolio divided equally among Bitcoin, investment value.
How much is the $1,000 crypto basket worth now?
As of the morning of November 4, the equal-weighted portfolio was valued at $886.54. Each asset started with a $250 allocation, and all four have since fallen below that original amount.
Bitcoin’s share was worth $236.98, representing a $13.02 loss. Ethereum declined by $25.06, while XRP dropped by $29.12. Solana fell to $203.75, leaving it $46.25 below its starting value.
The performance gap between the top and bottom assets was significant. Bitcoin maintained the most value, whereas Solana suffered the largest individual loss within the portfolio.
Solana suffered the steepest decline
Solana’s price closed at $120.76 on October 5 before sliding to a low of $91.84 on November 2. It traded 67% below its all-time high of $293.31, which was reached in January 2025.
XRP sat 63.8% below its own record high, while Ethereum was 50.8% under its $4,946.05 peak. Both of those highs were established in 2025.
This disparity is also evident in the value of hypothetical single-coin holdings. A $1,000 investment in Bitcoin would have been worth $947.92, compared to $814.99 for the same amount invested in Solana. The diversified basket performed between those two extremes at $886.54.
November gains have not restored the starting amounts
All four cryptocurrencies saw price increases following the October 31 close. Ethereum rose 8%, XRP climbed 5.6%, Bitcoin gained 4%, and Solana advanced 1.4%.
These gains were insufficient to return any of the holdings to their original $250 value. Bitcoin requires a further 5.5% increase to break even, while Ethereum and XRP need gains of 11.1% and 13.2%, respectively. Solana faces the most difficult path, requiring a 22.7% rise to recover.
Solana also traded below its 50-day moving average of $108.61, a metric often used by traders to gauge medium-term trends. Bitcoin remained below its 50-day average of $81,909.
What did diversification change?
Allocating funds across four different coins shielded the portfolio from the full impact of holding only the weakest performer. The $886.54 basket was worth more than an all-Solana position at $814.99, though it trailed an all-Bitcoin position at $947.92.
These figures also highlight the limitations of diversifying among major cryptocurrencies, as all four assets declined during the same market slump. Bitcoin’s relatively smaller drop provided a buffer for the basket, while the sharper losses in Ethereum, XRP, and especially Solana dragged the total value down.
Bitcoin’s next price levels identified in the analysis included a close above its October 1 mark of $84,842 and a close below the November 2 low of $76,709. The basket remained down 11.3% as of November 4.
