Men might hold larger savings balances, but this disparity is not necessarily a reflection of more than just who maintains a more disciplined budget.
Research indicates that men typically have more capital set aside, yet this does not automatically mean they are superior savers. Here is what the data uncovers, and why the core issue may have little to do with individual <a s savings versus women's savings
Last year, Yahoo Finance collaborated with Marist Poll to survey over 3,000 adults who hold at least one checking or savings account, aiming to highlight the financial challenges and anxieties affecting Americans. The survey found that women reported being “very dissatisfied” or “completely dissatisfied” with their savings at a significantly higher frequency than men (40% compared to 28%).
Furthermore, women were more inclined to report that they saved less money in 2024 than they did in 2023 (53% versus 42% of men), a trend particularly prevalent among millennial and Gen X women (57% and 59%, respectively).
