This weekly report monitors several of the leading cryptocurrencies by market capitalization: Bitcoin and Ether. Although both are categorized as high-risk assets, they feature fundamental distinctions that unchanged.

Bitcoin is down approximately 8% year-to-date, whereas Ether has decreased by roughly 21% year-to-date.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin represents the world’s inaugural decentralized digital currency. Since the first transaction took place in early 2009, it has evolved into a mainstream financial asset on a global scale. While frequently volatile, as shown in the chart below, one could argue that Bitcoin demonstrates significant resilience, particularly as product innovation broadens the methods available for investors to manage its volatility.

Bitcoin’s closing price fell 3% this week, despite having undergone a wider recovery. BTC is currently down about 8% year-to-date and remains approximately 35% below its record high from October 2025.
